Since I am not from Berlin, I am not familiar with the food scene over here. If someone asked me about good places to eat here I’d probably just suggest typical fast food chains around the corner. Unfortunately that wouldn’t be helpful. I asked Vicky, an aspiring fashion journalist and a real Berliner about some tips. She broke down the tastebuds of Berlin to the 5 most popular restaurants and things to eat or drink. Here are her perfect and helpful answers:
Is Berlin vegan and healthy?
Yes absolutely! You’ll find the most delicious bowls ever. The Bowl in Friedrichshain or Daluma in Mitte are just some of the examples for the creative and healthy restaurants. Next to Matcha Iced Latte, Sweet Potato Fries and Quinoa the dishes contain many other power ingredients. I really recommend the Falafel-Bowl! By the way: It’s not just the food that is extremely good. The locations are also very cozy and welcoming.
Pfeffi and beer.
And of course the good old classic – Sterni! Nevertheless Berliner Luft definitely is the favorite of this town! No other schnaps in Berlin is as fancy and famous as this one.
Since I love strawberry milkshakes and they aren’t the favorites of Berliner, I thought I’ll just insert a picture of me sipping on one anyways.
People mostly come to Berlin because of the night life.
Berghain, Watergate and Tresor magically pull tourists towards their entrances. Everyone want to experience a typical weirdo party night. If you are able to get out of the clubs after three days of partying non stop you should check out Benedict in Wilmersdorf. It’s a breakfast café and is the perfect place to be after a long night or weekend. Eggs of Benedict and a soja latte for getting rid of the hangover are two favorites. But the absolute must-haves are their pancakes!
Burger, Burger everywhere.
If there is one thing that Berlin can’t have enough of it’s Burger restaurants. Either vegan, vegetarian or old school meat patties. You’ll find every sort of burger from traditionally american to asian varieties. Shiso Burger, Kreuzburger and Burgeramt are just a couple of good examples for the perfect burger place.
